13.4oz denim fabric made of 100% organic cotton from Turkey. Adding some cotton waste realized the vintage-like texture. It becomes more gentle and more rustic over time.

Only natural dyes are used for printing. Color-fixing mordant is also from a natural origin.

Hand print technique is literally printing each color, one by one, by hand. You have to wait for the color to dry before going on to the next color. Only this hand print can realize the most delicate and beautiful printed material.

We asked the prominent illustrator Itsuki Wakabayashi to create an updated version of the “Bamboo and Peony” kimono pattern popular among Edo people by mixing with psychedelic rock taste in the 60s.
The “Bamboo and Peony” combination is considered fortunate in Japanese culture, and its dynamic composition has a modern impact that never fades.
Also, we took in the concept of “Kare-Sansui” (dry landscape garden), expressing the magnificent scenery by placing only sand and rocks when creating the dynamic polka-dots.

I intentionally used multiple colored flowers and leaves to realize the vision of “9-jour.” which is “to make a world to recognize the freedom of expression” and the strong partnership behind this project.
Usually, a single flower or a single leaf is not multi-colored.
However, by intentionally making it colorful, I wanted to express the “freedom” and “mutual appreciation of diverse freedom.”

I’ve found multiple partnerships behind this project.
By expressing each expertise’s hard work as colorful flowers and leaves, I wanted to create the design as the worldview of “9-jour.”

In conventional manufacture, they cut garments from several layered fabrics.
However, when it comes to “9-jour.”, the cutting procedure has to be done one by one, carefully adjusting the position of the printed design.
